As any of you who have read the iACTion Newsletter or came to the membership meeting know, our theme for the year is Driving Dialogue. The IAC EC, with ACT President Martha Dorris in attendance, held a strategic planning session in July. We focused on what “driving dialogue” meant to each of us and how “driving dialogue” could be effectively translated into the activities of IAC in order to create opportunities for more meaningful interactions for our members. Then, we defined specific actions each of us would focus on to achieve results.
Perhaps the area where members will see the most visible change is in Programs. Andy will write about some of the changes that are being made in program planning to ensure more opportunities for dialogue are incorporated into our programs. Another visible change will be with the SIG white papers. Issuance of a white paper will be another step in the dialogue process as dialogue will continue through focused events. The intent of this blog is to make visible our actions to promote driving dialogue and to get your feedback and ideas.
On a lighter subject, IAC’s Night at the Nationals took place last night. We had a good crowd, although a number of no-shows which was unfortunate. Also unfortunate was the Nats loss. Nonetheless, it was great to see our IAC as well as government colleagues at the event, and even learn a tidbit or two of personal interest about some folks.
